know, I know, this would be the section that everyone despises, but trust
me, I am charging as little as possible just to keep the site going and
to acquire new books for you! So, bear with me, all right? ?
Payment Methods
How our rental
works is such that when you rent a book, you will need to pay a full amount
of ‘Selling Price’. Upon returning the book, we will refund
you a ‘Buy Back Price’, whereby,
Rental
Rate = Selling Price – Buy Back Price
We
allow for a maximum rental period of 1 1/2 months inclusive of the postal delivery time.
Books rented for longer than 1 1/2 months will no longer be accepted for buy back.
There are
2 payment options available:
1)
Prepaid Account
Prepay a certain amount of money (amount is up to you) and you will be
given a Reader’s Shack account number. All transactions will go
through this account. A statement will be e-mailed to you each time you
make a transaction, such that you are aware of the outstanding amount.
To set up a Prepaid Account, please follow the steps below:
i) Complete
this form
ii) Within 3 days, you will receive a confirmation email detailing your
new Prepaid Account Number and either a Maybank or RHB account number
for you to deposit the amount into.
When renting,
the ‘Selling Price’ will be deducted from your account and
upon returning, the ‘Buy Back Price’ will be credited back
into your account.
2)
On-the-Fly Rental
For this method, please follow the steps below:
i) Email
us at contact@readersshack.com
stating your intentions.
ii) We will then contact you to confirm regarding the books (titles and
price) you've requested for. Upon agreement you'll be given Reader's Shack
bank account number for you to deposit the amount required.
iii) We will then send you the books the next working day.
There you
go, 2 payment options for your choice. However, I would be much grateful
if you would choose the first option as it will be much more convenient
for both you and me since less physical monetary transactions are involved.
Delivery Methods
Postal Service
Postal costs will be fully shouldered by the customer. Upon delivery,
we will include a pre-paid parcel / package for the book return. All you
need to do is to deliver the package to any post office convenient to
you. We will strictly adhere to the rates charged by Pos Malaysia’s

Store Credit
What is Store Credit?
Aha! So you wanna get rid of your books because you've run out of space to
keep them? Why not trade-in your used books for some Store Credits? Store
Credits work just like money that you can use to buy or rent books from Reader's
Shack!
How does Store Credit work?
Store Credit represents a monetary value in RM that you accumulate by trading in your
paperback books with Reader's Shack. Once your books are accepted by us, we will
credit to your Prepaid Account the appropriate amount of Store Credits. You can then use
your Store Credits to buy or rent books from Reader's Shack.
To start, you've got to have a Prepaid Account with us. This account will be used
to track how much Store Credits you have. Next, send us an email at
contact@readersshack.com letting us know that you would
like to trade in your books for Store Credits. Please provide the following
information in your email for each book:
i) Title
ii) Author
iii) ISBN
iv) Published Year
v) Book Condition
We will review your list and let you know which one we will accept. Once that's agreed,
please mail your books to our address:

When the books reach us, we will credit the Store Credits into your account and
inform you of this by email. You can also log into your account
to check on your accumulated Store Credits from the main page.
How much Store Credits can I get?
We give out Store Credits based on the publishing year of the book.
Pricing for Normal Paperbacks (greater than 350 pages)
i) Books published in the current year = RM 7/book
ii) Books published 1 year ago = RM 7/book
iii) Books published 2 years ago = RM 4/book
iv) Books published 3 years ago = RM 4/book
v) Books published 4 years ago = RM 2/book
vi) Books published 5 years ago = RM 1/book
vii) Books published 6 years ago = RM 0.5/book
viii)Books published more than 7 years ago = Only donations accepted
Pricing for Short Paperbacks (lesser than 350 pages)
i) Books published in the current year = RM 2.4/book
ii) Books published 1 year ago = RM 1.8/book
iii) Books published 2 years ago = RM 0.9/book
iv) Books published 3 years ago = RM 0.6/book
v) Books published 4 years ago = RM 0.3/book
vi) Books published 5 years ago = RM 0.3/book
vii) Books published more than 5 years ago = Only donations accepted
What's the catch?
Now here's the deal.
i) We only accept paperback books for now.
ii) Store Credits can only be used for buying and renting Reader's Shack books.
You cannot cash them out of your account.
ii) Reader's Shack reserves the right to reject books received that are in an
unacceptable condition (pages torn/missing etc). We will send these books back
to you.
iii) Reader's Shack reserves the right to review your list of books and select
the ones that we will accept.
iv) Reprinted paperbacks will be considered based on the original publishing year.

Spreading the good news!
The next time that you introduce friends to rent or buy books from Reader's Shack,
remember to remind them to enter your name as a recommender in the Book Check Out page.
For each new friend that you introduce to Reader's Shack (your friend has to make a rental
or purchase of course) you get to rent any Reader's Shack book that has a rental value
of not more than RM10 for FREE! This means that when you return that book to us, we will pay you
the Buy Back price that is equivalent to the Selling Price of the book.
